Mintleaf ~When the day is over and done they're still your brothers.~ A small silver figure made it way threw the fields of golden wheat. It was Mintleaf out for a afternoon stroll. She liked to get out and enjoy this beautiful territory of theirs, theirs meaning her clans and hers. It was a beautiful spring afternoon day the sun was high in the sky a few song birds were singing, prey was plentiful from coming out of their winter hiding places looking to fatten back up. There were still small patches of snow here and there but nothing to serious.
Mintleaf was making her way toward the stream on the Cherryclan Border with TealClan,it was most likely still going to be icy cold so it would taste refreshing. she had just left camp so she wasn't quite there yet. A lot of things were happening in her family between her brothers. Oakfoot was becoming increasing jealous of Solarflare and Solarflare was on a hunt for power, so everything was a little hectic in her life right now." They are just so stupid" She thought quietly to herself, why did they have to act like they did, they are brothers after the day is over and done. She just wanted someone to talk to without having a agenda behind their words. This was the story of the young she-cats warrior life. ___________________ ______ Comments: Hi Word count:218 Muse:average [/blockquote]

{CROWFLIGHT} even for a deputy, there had been a lot on his mind. For the past week, Crowflight had been restless and hadn't gotten much sleep at all. However, it didn't show physically, his face was still as angular and breathtakingly beautiful like any other day, his legs moved with that exact same grace, that fluid smoothness that everyone seemed to envy on cats like him. And yet, to look upon his burning blue orbs, like dark tormented storms, there was a seriousness in his gaze, a flooding anguish of grief, that wouldn't have been there before. There was a darkness to his step, a clench of his heart that only he could feel, and a pounding in his head of all this stress that had not been there before all of this -- before he had fallen for Eclipsedmoon.
All of his life, there had been similar symptoms, but that was only to be expected when he first fell for Lightpool, and then later, when he fell out of love with her when she rejected him, and had fallen heads-over-heels, so much deeper than he would ever think, in love with Oceansong. He was always late in these things, in the act of falling, because although the more childish, bitter part of him wished to claim otherwise, he knew it was all his fault.
Crowflight had fallen in love too soon and out of love too soon with Lightpool -- he was not obvivlious to the longing glances the pale-pelted she-cat sent him in their warriorship when he had just begun padding hopelessly after Oceansong. He had fallen too late for her, the pretty silver she-cat in his dreams, because by the time that he had realized like it, like an arrow to the heart, she rejected him with forlorn, somehow bitter, gazes that said anything else but rejection.
And now here was the problem of Eclipsedmoon who, in all his foolishness, cast her away even though he knew she loved him, had followed him foolishly despite his obvious cold demeanor. To tell the truth, even though he had denied it for the longest time, the honest part of the TealClan deputy had realized his feelings for her long before she made recognition of him. She was pretty, young, talented and full of life -- the opposite of him. If he had given himself the chance to think about them, he would have accepted her and these "wrong" and "betraying" - he thought - ideas far easier. Because, if one really thought about it, the idea of him falling for her was not so difficult. In fact, anyone falling for her was not difficult either, because how could you not fall in love with someone like her?
A deep sigh slipped from his lips as he strolled along the CherryClan-TealClan border, the sound of the river somehow soothing his torn heart. Crowflight looked forward, striding forward in slow, but confident steps, with each one of his paws placed on the ground in assured, calculated places, as if they were meant to be exactly in that spot. For a moment, the tom paused in his track and flexed his paws, raising it to his face to inspect it carefully. His paws almost felt sore, but not quite, it was like a ghostly pain that surrounded it, like whisps of magic, but was not really there. The tom looked back and grimaced. He had taken this path so many times that it felt as if he had torn a groove in the earth.
Smiling in an almost rigid manner, he straightened his shoulders and prepared himself for his self-patrol again, something he often did everyday. It would seem that Loststar should be doing this, bringing himself on patrols on his own even long after the sun had dipped below the earth, and long before it would rise, in anxious movements to make sure that no cat dare crossed the border. To Crowflight, however, he knew that it was his duty and he filled it with no complaints. Even if Loststar was not troubled as he was now - the silvery tom noticed his black leader become slightly more troubled in these passing weeks - Crowflight would still fill these tasks. To him, it sometimes felt as if he was leading the clan instead of Loststar, even if the solitary leader was no where near retiring.
Ears flicking silently, as he carefully listened to the sounds around him and watched out for any suspicious movement, Crowflight took a step forward -- and then another, and another, until he lost himself in his thoughts again. The tom often did this, feeling as if he walked and walked, he would be able to walk away all his troubles, that the pain of each step would wash away everything he knew.
Again, he sighed and raised his head, glancing sideways at the CherryClan border. A flicker of movement caught his eye, eyes suddenly darkening, and he tensed his shoulders, preparing himself for that familiar flash of black and white fur that would signal his half-brother's entrance. Even if Crowflight had not spotted Blackrush in a while, that certainly did not cross out the option that he would show up -- that arrogant, childish fool often liked to make trouble and there was nothing saying that he would do something so simple as ignore Crowflight's scent. Oh StarClan, he simply despised his brother.
Imagine his surprise when it was not Blackrush but a ... a she-cat. He was so caught offguard by this - his mind was simply too focused on his brother, his mouth set into that disgusted frown, his jaw tightened, and his claws flexing in frustration - that his shoulders instantly relaxed as he leaned unconsciously back on his paws, stumbling into a sitting position, and blinked openly at her, surprise filling in the lines of his usually composed, emotionless face. He wasn't gaping, but the utterly appalled look was, as some might say, cute too see and for a beautiful cat like him, laughable. Especially for such an emotionless cat
After a moment, he regained motion in his mouth and blinked a single time, before composing his face into another calm mask. He shifted himself onto another paw, his face burning lightly in embarrassment at being caught so off guard (which he quickly cursed himself for), and looked at her. "so, ah, how's the prey running in cherryclan, mintleaf?" he meowed politely, thankful that her name suddenly flashed across his mind in recognition.

Mintleaf ~A breeze is a sign of something to come.~ Mintleaf had just made it to the stream that marked the border of the the two clans, CherryClan and TealClan. She came for a drink thinking that she would be the the only one there, alone. But to her surprise another cat was there and not one of here clan. She thought with all the streams and the lake that TealClan had that there wouldn't be anyone else here. But then again there could have been a patrol only that this was only one cat, Crowflight the deputy of Tealclan.
She slowly came up to the the stream and sat down and rapped her tail around her when she noticed the tom. She didn't really know what was going on in TealClan, but than again she kind of didn't really care. She had her own problems with here family and all." All is well in CherryClan. How's prey running Tealclan?" A soft mew left her muzzle, even though she was talking to someone who was not in her clan and a higher rank than her she felt normal. She knew she was safe and had nothing to worry about. Just then a soft breeze blew by and then she than thought about her brother, the oldest Solarflare. If it was him here instead of her, he would be making a huge fuss over nothing. Unlike her other brother Oakfoot who just may have been a little nervous. She loved them both dearly, but they seemed like they were on a whole another level than her, like they weren't even related. This of course made Mintleaf's, there parents upset. They were old and in the elders den, but the always keep a look out on there kits. They were worried about the tension about their kits and were especially worried about how Solarflare and Oakfoot were treating each other. Although they knew that Solarflare was causing a lot of it, they still had faith in him. Even though Mintleaf had given up on him some time ago, she still loved him. But it was hard to trust him and thats one of the reasons why she feels so alone. ___________ ____ Word Count:357 Muse:fair Comments:None

{CROWFLIGHT} crowflight stared at her, amused and almost bewildered. he did not let down his guard, which is to say he was not going to open his heart entirely to her as he might have done unwillingly if it were his brother. this was not to say, however, that he wanted to let his brother know everything that went on in his life, but more that blackrush had an uncanny way of getting under his skin and forcing him to reveal things that he would like to remain hidden, which also meant that blackrush possessed a very similar ability to read crowflight like the open-faced cat he was, not the close-faced one he pretended to, and what most other cats thought him to, be. however, crowflight's guard was put up in ways he was not familiar with when he come across blackrush, his defensive shooting up in waves. with mintleaf, his face was blank and smooth instead of flushed with a secret fierceness, a distorted anger that could not be masked.
yet, the gentle slope of his shoulders and lightness in his expression said otherwise. it seemed almost as if, for once, he let his guard show and he smiled at her, his lips smoothed across his moonlight face, in an easy, unfamiliar fashion. his shoulders were not tense and his jaw was not tight, the muscles that lined his muscles well hidden be the thick black bands of his pelt. he dipped his head to her words, showing his appreciation that she did not hiss and chase him off (not that she should of course, because he had not set a paw in her territory and did not plan to) and his slight pleasure at knowing that the fellow clan was doing well. however, he could not be entirely happy -- this meant that cherryclan was strong and that tealclan should have even more reason to keep their guard up, lest they chose to attack.
however, crowflight did not think that was liable to happen. the clans were at peace - with the exception of ravineclan who seemed to be slightly edgy, less peaceful than the others - and the prey seemed to run thickly through the entire forest. this was a good thing, a fresh new change compared to the former seasons and going even further back, to the war that they had left BrookClan in and they had fled from. at the time, crowflight had been only crowpaw and he had still been head-over-heels for lightpaw. through the journey, it was probably when he fell for oceanpaw and quite immediately after, became a warrior. he ran a tongue over silver lips, chapped by the heat, and he twisted around to lick a paw coolly, casting lingering glances at mintleaf. she would have just been a new apprentice around the time he became a warrior.
he straightened his shoulders and this time, swiveled his entire gaze to look at her, his expression soft and glowing. the sun filtered through the trees almost gently, dancing upon his moonlight coloring and along with his eyes, his coat seemed to flicker in the warmth of it all, revealing his beauty entirely. he shifted his weight onto the other paw, not intentionally but in a way that made his muscles ripple faintly beneath slender shoulders, and nodded in response to her inquiry, "pretty well, I would say. just this morning I caught quite a few pieces." he flicked his tail back towards the deeper end of his territory and angled his head in that direction. he lifted his eyes to the sky and ever thoughtful, he meowed, "it's nice, isn't it? the peace, I mean." he paused, pressing his lips together, and looked at her. the air that surrounded them was not awkward but not particularly at ease, and he felt uneasy. why did he linger? he should be on his way. yet...
crowflight had not let himself be in the company of another cat in such a long time, for the ache of his heart was ever present and he thought that if should spend time talking to a cat, he might snap at them and instantly lose any ounce of respect he made. the guilt of mistakes rang in his ears, as if he could still hear her sharp words, and if any reminder of eclipsedmoon were to arise - such as the flicker of her pelt - he would find himself sucking in his breath, and running away. because of this, he had to admit, he had been lacking in properly training nightpaw as well. however, looking at a cat who did not look a thing like and had no connections with her, was - he admitted grungingly - perhaps what he needed to get over this idea of "running away" and instead face his problems head on. it was rather.... refreshing.
he blinked then, once noticing the expression that played itself across her features. although he could not exactly name it, he knew it was familiar and pressed his lips together thoughtfully, the muted blue of his eyes swimming with more thoughts that he had not bothered to contain. if there was any cat who understood and knew what uneasiness looked like, what the symptoms of a troubled cat were, it would be crowflight. not intending to seem forward, but moderately concerned, the tom shifted again and meowed carefully, "is something bothering you?" he then watched her, her every motion reflected in his water-blue eyes.

Mintleaf Mintleaf,a she-cat that didn't really care for anyone much anymore. Peace to her was a new feeling, so new that it felt like a illusion. Her family was quiet, for the time being anyway. She wasn't behind in anything, she had hunted earlier and caught a grouse and a couple of mice. Everything was good, but how long will this last, this illusion which was peace. She haded to think like this all she wanted is happiness. Was this to much to ask? Yes it's very nice."
Mintleaf smiled when she said this trying to continue a peaceful atmosphere. She could do nothing but to agree with the tom of another clan. Maybe she should stop worrying and enjoy this rare moment. Mintleaf blinked and coked her head to right side, she was sort of taken aback by this. Why would he even care. Why should he even care. Is it really that oblivious? These are the things that went through her head at that moment. Should she anwser it truthfully or really not at all. " Oh, no it's nothing really, just family troubles." This was said with a sigh. She really didn't want to answer this and she didn't have to, but I guess you could say that she kind of wanted to deep down in side she was not really as hard as she tries to portray herself on the outside. She feared this for some reason, but why? Why did she fear something so simple to most? This is what she was going to have to answer herself, in time. __________ ___ Word Count: 262 Comments: n/a Muse: average [/blockquote]

{CROWFLIGHT} a tight smile stretched across thin lips and in a rare moment, crowflight was unsure of what to say. this did not occur often, of this many cats were sure, and most of the time, his mouth would open with easy words on his honey-tongue. and yet, such a situation was a common occurrence with cats like eclipsedmoon, who almost always kept him tongue-tied and dumbfounded in a way that he found was impossible for any other cat to do. such a she-cat made him speechless. however, while eclipsedmoon had that effect on him, he was more careful with mintleaf and although her reply to not particularly catch him off guard, he still found himself with his paws twitching and ears swiveling around awkardly. the dark tom did not say anything and kept his lips pressed tightly together, for fear of offending her with any harsh words that might have came forth.
or, lest he say something to revealing to a cat from a rival clan. if this was perhaps eclipsedmoon or loststar or even nightpaw, he might have offered a comforting shoulder and soothing words. he would have inquired further and perhaps even gave personal imput because, if there was any cat who could understand mintleaf's situation more than she did, it would probably be crowflight. he had no family in tealclan, yet he understood such problems as he did the back of his paw. he had never known his mother, or his father, and both of his foster parents were never actually close enough to him that they would share bits of their personal life -- this meant that he did not have room to quarrel with him. yet, the relationship he established with blackrush was, all the same, enough to make him aggravated and frustrated enough for all of the family he lacked.
growing up, he did not know he had a brother. his father, skyshift, had died - or so he was told later, when he was in his early apprenticeship - before he could open his eyes and therefore, was brought up without a family. yes, he had a mother and a father but neither were particularly parental. his so-called siblings, dustkit and honeykit, bullied him constantly and his mother was constantly nagging him. only his father seemed to care, but watched from a distance and never did anything when his mother yelled at him for something he did not even do. somewhere into his third moon, he had heard of a rumor of a tom called skyshift, whom he adored instantly and formed a sort of fascination for; he often wished that such a glorious, brilliant tom was his father. imagine his horrific surprise in his tenth moon when he figured out morningwind and grayriver were not his parents, nor were honeypaw and dustpaw his siblings. and despite his mother's constant verbal abuse, he couldn't help but want himself to be her son. having a bad family was better than having none, after all. then, such surprise turned pleasant once knowing that skyshift really was his father.
that also meant that a warrior, who had previously been tealclan, named lilydance - also the cherryclan she-cat lavenderlight - was his mother. he became downcast at the thought, now knowing that his real mother would never be known to him, but was immediately enlightened by the very aspect of a brother, no matter even they only shared half of their genes. yet, upon looking upon blackpaw - with his dark, unforgiving scowl - both toms, with identical water-blue eyes, formed a everlasting hate for each other. on crowpaw's side, it had absolutely no base. he had never hated anyone before, yet blackpaw was so cocky and arrogant that it got under his skin, irritated him like a foreign flea. such a hate could not be avoided, he knew. such a thing was fate and you could not interfere with fate.
speaking of, as he glanced at the waning sunlight, his assigned patrol was coming up. in response to her reply, crowflight has simply given her a sympathetic nod and straightened his shoulders almost immediately, standing to his paws, lest his strange quietness infect their atmosphere with an even more awkward feeling. he paused for a moment, face placated by a polite smile, and then dipped his head again, flicking his tail absentmindedly. "ahh, i'm afraid I must excuse myself," he meowed, his voice smooth and charming like the gentleman he was. then he turned, without any sort of lingering glance lest she might get another idea and then he paused on his way, angling his head back with a less frosty smile. "have a nice day."
and then he was off. wolfstep and loststar were waiting for him back at camp.
