name: Shadowflame gender: She-cat age: 16 moons clan: BrookClan rank: Warrior
appearance: At first glance, Shadowflame is eye-catching at best. You do not mistake Shadowflame for a breathtaking, knockout kind of a she-cat; what you see is the flame-bright orange splotches on her body against the night-colored backdrop that is her main pelt. Ginger is sporadic among the orange flames, and the mixture of bright and light against the startling dark undertones is shocking at first sight, but not what you would call beautiful. Instead, she's unique, eye-catching at best. When standing, this she-cat is shorter and stockier than other she-cats, though she is not fat or exceedingly stout by any means: what I mean to say is, her frame is shorter and more muscled than most she-cats would be. Her head is sharply defined, in a Roman-esque style, and flattering to her body. The patches of ginger around her chin and neck seem to enhance the black whiskers, nose, with little orange streaks above her eyes. Those eyes...the light seems to disagree with them, for in the daytime they appear to be nothing more than light jade leaves, sparkling prettily but normally. When night falls however, they take on a new life of their own. Their jade depths seem to be freckled with a light gold-amber, the edges rimmed in a rich, barely visible teal blue. If you look casually, she seems to be a hybrid of two strange creatures who were not compatible at all: however, when you study her carefully, you see that her odd features flow together like the rippling brook that gave BrookClan its name. Her silky pelt shimmers in the sunshine with its feuding hues, and when she moves you think you see a leaf swaying in the breeze. She is strong, graceful and lithe, and even though she is clearly different from most she-cats, she has something of her own that shines through.
strengths: Brawn; Shadowflame is not the quickest cat in the forest, nor the best huntress. Indeed, her stockier frame and muscular build beckons to fight, though she is nothing near the powerhouse that Goldenrage is, or the wickedly quick Swiftclaw in battle. Another strength of Shadowflame's is her overwhelming compassion, though this could be seen as a weakness as well. Her heart weeps for any lost soul, any being killed, especially if she did the killing. Even if the loss was necessary for life, such as hunting, she still feels sorrow and grief over the dead- she longs to help and to give, to share and to love those around her...though she cannot seem to find the proper way. Shadowflame is anything if she is solid. Not only in her small, muscular build, but in her spirit as well. Her beliefs will not be swayed, her loyalties cannot be broken, for she is strong in her faith and her love for her Clan, and for StarClan. She knows that she is a Warrior of BrookClan, and that is more than enough for her. She will not be broken in these regards, and this may be considered her greatest weapon in her arsenal of strengths: her unfailing devotion and love to BrookClan under StarClan.
weaknesses: One of Shadowflame's more obvious weaknesses is speed. Short and solid, she is probably the slowest Warrior in all of BrookClan, including Goldenrage. (Though he has practiced for moons and moons to become faster...) She runs fast, as all Warriors must in order to survive, but she cannot dart across the land like the wind rippling over the water, like lightning striking the earth. She is more methodic, rhythmic in her running, like the thunder echoing across the canyon. Another one of her weaknesses is her self-consciousness. Because of her odd, (yet sort of appealing) looks and her not-so-quick skills, she feels out of place as a BrookClanner: especially a she-cat. The other she-cats of BrookClan tend to be slim, quick, wily and light-voiced. She feels unfeminine and unworthy to be a part of so marvelous a Clan. And so, she is self-conscious about herself, and has trouble putting herself out there when it comes to meetings, decisions, patrols, anything really. But her heart and intentions are pure in the most delightful of ways.
personality: A personality is so much more than the way someone acts, but the very essence of their being, and Shadowflame's personality can be compared to the sun. Bright and strong, pulsing with life, her actions can be hidden and covered by clouds, as they often seem to be, because she is self-conscious and hides. Her sunlight is streaked with the brilliant sunset colors, streaks of pink and purple that higlight her bright heart. She is happy in nature, but so self-conscious and shy that she rarely lets her happy and helpful nature shine. The pinks and purples that shimmer in her heart is the love and kindness that radiates her being. She loves to help and will do anything for those she loves, and she loves easily and wholly. Sometimes her loving nature and kindness is a curse, for she may love wrongly, (though innocently,) and she will be hurt in turn. She is pure and innocent, kind and beautiful at heart. She is also strong: sturdy like her stockier frame, her spirit, though free and graceful, is unshakeable and firm. Not to say that crisis' don't affect her, but she keeps the facade of strength up until she is alone and then, only then, does she break down before StarClan, begging them for help. Her father gave her a strong faith in StarClan, which she upholds even to this day.
likes: The coolness of the night around her, the way that the moonlight shimmers across the sky, the stars twinkling their promise far off in the distance. The feeling of raindrops falling around her, upon her, washing away the sins and sorrows of the world in their refreshing wake. The rumble of thunder proving its ineffable strength, the bolt of lightning striking against the earth in a taunting ray of power. The warm pelts of her Clan around her, tongues rasping across her back, the common bond that they share with her. The rustling of wind across the trees, the lapping of water upon the edges of the brook, the grass whispering around her paws...and so much more!
dislikes: The loneliness of having nobody truly love her, notice her, or even really befriend her. The taste of blood in her mouth, warm and life-giving to someone that had once been alive. The need of killing in order to survive, even the smallest mouse. The deaths of so many of her beloved, the reign of the foxes that destroys all she loves around her. The feathers stuck between her teeth when she's trying to give herself sustenance, the wings that get in the way and the skinny legs that provide no food. The seeping, dry, cold of leaf-bare, the snow falling around her, the cold feeling when she first nestles into her nest at night.
history: Shadowflame was born in a Clan called StreamClan, to a she-cat called Silverclaw. Shadowflame never met Silverclaw, never knew her personally, only knew her name. Her father, a tom-cat named Russet, said that she was the only kit that her mother had let him take, because he was no longer a Clanner, and she was, and he longed to have his kits with him.
Her father raised her by himself for about eight moons. They traveled far from StreamClan, and Russet taught his only, beloved daughter how to love, live, laugh, and survive. He taught her many pysical skills in order to live in the forest, but what Shadowflame, (then Shadow,) learned the most from her wise father was how to trust in StarClan when life is going good, and when the world is crashing down all around you.
Nearly every day of her life, Shadow asked Russet why it was just the two of them. What had happened with her mother, why did she have no siblings, why did Russet get sad whenever he heard the name Silverclaw, or whenever she asked? He would always turn his chocolate brown eyes on her and cuff her lightly on the side of the head with his light ginger paw, and respond lightly, "When you're ready. I'll tell you when you're ready."
It was the beginning of her ninth moon, and her eyes were wide at the shining moon. Russet and Shadow were sitting near a rippling stream, and Shadow looked at Russet with soulful jade eyes, her tail wrapped lovingly around his. "Will you tell me now, Da?" She asked, leaning against him, feeling the familiar warmth of his slender body against hers, his musky and warm scent comforting her straight to the soul.
Russet looked at her with the oddest expression, of great sadness and love, and replied sadly, "Tomorrow. Tomorrow, my sweet, I will tell you." She smiled and purred lightly, before resting against him and returning talk to more pleasant things, like the moon and the river and the love that they had for each other. Curled up around him, Shadow fell asleep with peace and happiness deep within her.
When she woke up, Russet was gone. Shadow roamed all day, crying out for her beloved Da, but she didn't find him. For nearly a moon, she searched, day after day, hardly taking time to hunt and rest. All she wanted was Russet, her Da, her only family. On the eve of her tenth moon, StarClan whispered that her Da was safe, that she needed to move on, find a purpose, find a new home.
And so Shadow left. She left the land that she had known all her life, left the only place that she had been with Russet. For about six moons she travelled, when she happened upon a land ridden with foxes and terror. She was nearly killed by the foxes when she found BrookClanners, and begged them for a home. She was quickly accepted, because they needed all of the cats that they could in order to regrow BrookClan. She learned of BrookClan's history in bits and pieces, but became as attached to BrookClan and her Clanmates nearly as much as she had been connected to Russet.
Her memory of her father never fades, and she will always wonder who her mother was, if she had any siblings, and where Russet is...or died. What happened to him? Was he taken away, did he leave on purpose? To feel a nest empty and alone next to her where her father had always been still breaks her heart to this day, but she has done what StarClan told her, nearly six moons ago, on the full moon.
She found a new home.
